The discovery paper was led by Shilpa Ranchod, currently a PhD student at Wits supervised by Prof Roger Deane, in work that they started during her MSc at the University of Pretoria. Shilpa has recently been awarded a prestigious International Max Planck Research Schools (IMPRS) PhD scholarship, which she will take up later in the year in Bonn, Germany, where she will be supervised by Prof Michael Kramer, Dr Ann Mao and Prof Roger Deane.
